News Values

On this A3 piece of paper a fellow student and I compiled a total of 12 local news stories, and then using News Values we decided to order each news story in relevance and most likely to be interesting for the reader.
We chose a story and then we took turns writing next to each Headline why we put it in it's place regarding news values, for example where the event took place was often a factor to where we would put it in the table, the smaller the proximity would mean the higher it would be. Another important factor was negative news, as second in the table there was an Ebola story which is frightening and more likely to be interesting, another reason that it was second was because of how relevant the story was at the time, in this instance it was about Ebola which ha been in the public eye for a couple of weeks because of the events in places like Sierra Leone, where there are many cases of Ebola.
The Main Story was put at the top because of how local it was, it was also fairly negative and it was very close to Halloween when this story was released.
